South African music star Koko Bala is dead


– South African music star Koko Bala died on Tuesday, March 8, in Cape Town 

– Koko Bala in 2012, was diagnosed of cancer and HIV 

– In the same year he tested positive of these two illnesses, he lost his mother to stroke

Famous South African music star Koko Bala on Tuesday, March 8, died at Groote Schuur hospital, in Cape Town, after battling with cancer for a long time. According to Ghana Vibe, the 36-year old music artist and socialite was reported to have been diagnosed of ‘anal cancer’ in 2012 and has undergone different stages of chemotherapy and has also staged several awareness in order to fight against cancer, in his immediate environment.

Koko Bala who has also been diagnosed of being infected with HIV before his death disclosed to Ghanavibe that: 
“I went for chemotherapy for six weeks and a radiation programme two years ago, but the cancer came back severely.” 

Speaking with a longtime family friend and Koko’s housemate, Ephraim Molingoana disclosed that his friend has always kept a positive outlook and remained strong throughout his illness. Adding that:

“We are devastated and in a state of disbelief. The flamboyant 37-year-old was a member of ‘bubblegum pop’ group 3Sum along with Jeff Moyo and Amstel Maboa. Bala had hinted at a comeback to the music scene when he posted a picture in studio captioned “Let’s go back to the beat’.”
